Gherry's noises about Life, Love, Passion, Hope, Fear, Music, Technology and everything around it

I never thought that I would ever see the day when I read Facebook statuses of my friends and then see someone quoting Adolf Hitler. But it happened and it got worse. I didn’t see it once, but twice. It got even worse when I saw people liking that quote. This was the moment when I got very upset (blood boiling included) in disbelief.

I’m not going to reiterate which Adolf Hitler’s quote that is, but it’s not a pleasant one… and yeah, it’s a quote about Jews. The moment when I read that, I kept shaking my head and thinking: “So, are we going to justify the killing of 6 million people now?!?!”.

Look, I understand that people are passionately furious about what happened with Flotilla and the whole Gaza situation. As a matter of fact, I’m also FUCKING furious about those things. We are all FUCKING furious about those things. I heard Jews, Christians, Atheists who are also FUCKING furious about those things. But is that a reason to justify the systematic killings of 6 million people? Seriously people! is that?

I’m not a smart person, but I’ve learnt few lessons in life. One of them is that revenge for a bad deed by doing another bad deed does not make it good or right, because that means that you’re no better than that person who is doing bad deed.

I especially hate it when people makes an overgeneralization. Some people say Jews are bad and I know that that’s not true. Using the same overgeneralization scheme, can you take a logical conclusion that all Muslims are terrorists? or is everybody in Indonesia corrupt? or is everybody in Amsterdam stoned? NO, those things are not true either. Overgeneralization is a logical fallacy.

This reminds me of what is currently happening in the Netherlands, but the roles are somehow reversed. Next week there will be a parliament election in the Netherlands and there is one political party that wants to stop further spread of Islam in the Netherlands. They offer proposals to tax veil’s wearer and forbid people to build new mosque. However, other political parties refuse those proposals because everyone in the Netherlands must have a freedom to practice their own religion. One of the political party leader even support all kind of Muslim groups, even the orthodox one as long as they don’t go against the law. He stood by the Muslim community after 9/11. He stood by the Muslim community after the murder of Theo van Gogh. He stood by the Muslim community when the world’s finger is pointing at them after any terror attack. That’s why he is adored by Muslim community in the Netherlands. He is the leader of Labour Party. His name is Job Cohen. Oh… and he’s a Jew.

I’m not saying that I’m going to vote for that man, but this man keeps my faith in humanity. The faith that we can live together in peace even though we don’t agree with each other.
